- A film documenting Pope John Paul II's visit to Alice Springs. Pope John Paul II visited Australia in 1986, and become only the second Pope to visit Australia after Pope Paul VI's 1970 tour. On this visit Pope John Paul II visited every state and territory of Australia from 24 November to 1 December. The Pope is greeted by Traditional Owner representatives from around Alice Springs and the Chair of the Central Land Council. The Pope meets representative groups from: Port Keats, N.T.; Stradbroke Island, Qld.; Turkey Creek, N.T.; New South Wales; dancers from the Kimberley’s; Torres Strait Islands; Bathurst Island; Melville Island. Includes group singing and dancing performances, speeches and crowd addresses. Unrelated footage of R.A.A.F. military aircraft is at the end of the footage
