Summary
The djarrarda is a crucial feature of the female Rembarrnga culture. Presently, Nellie Camfoo is the only remaining performer. Her female relatives in the next generation are able to dance the djarrarda, but they are not familiar enough with the songs, and particularly not with the lyrics, to be able to sing it. Nellie Camfoo has expressed concern and even distress about being the last remaining performer. Some of her younger female relatives have expressed their desire to maintain the songs, and hopefully learn them at some point. The recordings and the transcripts will be key elements to help them maintain the ceremony
