Summary
Dr Jeanine from the Australian Centre for Indigenous History at the Australian National University, presents to the AIATSIS seminar series a talk entitled "Threads and Secrets : Black women re-writing history through fiction". This seminar explores the important and invaluable role of Aboriginal women in pre and post contact Australia as both custodians of culture and experience and in the re-wrtiting and representing of the nation's history. The presentation includes readings from Dr Jeanine's fist work of prose "Purple Threads", a novel focusing on three generations of Aboriginal women set in the shifting socio-historical landscape of the 1960s and 70s in rural Australia
