Summary
Between September 1990 and January 1991, three Indigenous children - Colleen Walker-Craig, aged 16, Evelyn Greenup, aged 4, and Clinton Speedy-Duroux, aged 16 - went missing from the same street in the small country town of Bowraville, New South Wales. The remains of only two of the children have since been found, and no convictions for murder have been made, despite the police investigations, trials, and attempts for a retrial. This inquiry was established on 26 November 2013 to inquire into and report on the family response to the murders, and in particular to provide an opportunity for the families and their community to tell their stories and to recommend avenues for change and redress. This report presents the findings of the inquiry and presents recommendations for the police, public prosecutions department, family support services, and Aboriginal cultural awareness training. A particular theme of the findings is the inadequacies of the original investigation and racial discrimination
