Summary
Barbara Wentworth was the wife of the Honourable William (Bill) Wentworth, a politician, the first Minister-in-charge of Aboriginal Affairs in 1968, and the ‘founding father’ of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. Between the years of 1962-1988 the Wentworths travelled to many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around Australia, often to remote locations accessible only by four-wheel drive. Barbara Wentworth documented much of these trips, including their many interactions with Indigenous people and communities. Photographs from the Wentworths' trip through the Pilbara.
