Narrated footage about the way Indigenous people think and live and how this impacts on health matters. Includes historical information regarding daily life, kinship, relationship to land and spiritual matters and how these issues flow through to the modern day and affect daily life and health issues. Also looks at issues such as overcrowding in houses and family responsibilities; treatment of dogs and inclusion in home life; inability to budget, store and prepare expensive western food; ways of raising children and sharing food; the circle of sickness; rubbish removal; gardening fruit and vegetables; bushtucker such as turtle and dugong hunting; meat shared throughout the community. Outstations are being used to reintroduce traditional ways into the community and includes discussion of market gardens; preparation of food and nutrition; gathering food and the need to travel to follow food supply; improved exercise as community is searching and gathering food. Psychological effects on health of people required to be away from home for medical treatment. The Darwin hospital has introduced a program to incorporate some elements of bushtucker into the patients diet to help them feel more linked to their ways. Houses designed to better suit family needs; animal care by providing veterinary care and improving the family health as a consequence.
