Summary
The Warburton Range expedition was conducted during July-September 1935. Filmed at Warupuju Ranges the reels contain the following: Reel 1 shows the expedition travelling to the area; an Aboriginal man showing a large board and drawing a design with chalk on paper; young women and children; dingo with litter of pups; people drinking water from a soak; young hunters of birds; cooking birds and gathering grubs from Salsola. Reel 2 shows hunting, preparation, extracting sinew and cooking of kangaroos. Reel 3 shows the hunting and cooking of possum. Reel 4 shows two women carrying their children across the back of their hips, searching for food, making and using digging sticks, collecting roots and making dough. Reel 5 demonstrates spear thrower manufacture and use. Reel 6 shows shows a circumcision operation and associated activities and ceremonies. Reel 7 shows a subincision operation and associated activities and ceremonies. Reel 8 shows ceremonial activity including: a man displaying a sacred board; men and woman grind ochre on a stone and paint themselves with it; other forms of body decoration are shown - gum nuts in hair, hair binding with wattle flowers, wattle flowers and bone through nose. The men's Kangaroo ceremony is also demonstrated. Reel 9 shows Aboriginal people in the Warburton Ranges
