Summary
"NTEU notes that the 2010 data on Indigenous Higher Education released by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) demonstrates that despite attempts by multiple governments to improve Indigenous access and participation in Higher Education, this remains perilous. Currently, less than 1% of total university staff, academic or general, are Indigenous. Commencing Indigenous students in 2010 comprised only 1% of all commencing students and of the total student population only 0.9% were Indigenous. It should be noted, however, that this was a slight improvement from previous years...." [taken from summary]
