  • Charles Pearcy Mountford was an Australian anthropologist and photographer. Self-taught, he became famous for his pioneering work on Indigenous Australians and his depictions and descriptions of their art. These film reels were made during the American-Australian Scientific Expedition to Arnhem Land (1948). This scientific and anthropological expedition was a huge event in its day, sponsored jointly by the Australian Commonwealth, the Smithsonian Institution and the American Geographic Society
  • Dr Peter Ucko, then Principal of the Institute collected Mountford's films in March 1974 from Charles Pearcy Mountford
