- Summary
- Cane toads (Bufo marinus) have encircled and entered Arnhem Land, one of the strongholds of Aboriginal cultures in northern Australia; predators cannot stop the advance, as goannas, quolls, snakes, crocodiles and turtles are poisoned and die from the toxins in the toads' skin and glands; concern raised in relation to the possible extinction of animals on which the Kuninjku people depend for food and income; the invasion of the cane toad challenges Kuninjku culture and their capacity to live off the land; suggests that the government should value what Aboriginal people do for land management and take the opportunity to build on it
