Summary
Industry composition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander work force is described and measured to see how it differs from the rest of the work force; 1986 Census data on industry division and class of employment are used and inter- and intra-industry segregation indexes based on the Duncan index are calculated; segregation seems to have decreased but there is some exclusion in particular industry classes; employment seems to be supported by a narrow industry base which is dependent largely on public sector expenditure
