Summary
Ljaba is traditionally regarded as the greatest Honey Ant totem centre in the Arrernte speaking area of Central Australia. In 1950 T.G.H. Strehlow filmed part of the cycle of totemic acts associated with Ljaba. Men from various Honey Ant clans re-enact, by ritual song, dance and symbol, the stories of the Honey Ant Ancestors. A ground painting is made in the sand early in the ceremonies, and it takes a dominant place throughout the ceremonies
