Summary
The traditional owners of the Sydney City region are the Cadigal band whose area stretches from the south side of Port Jackson from South Head to Petersham. The "Eora people" was the name given to the coastal Aborigines around Sydney. Eora simply means "here" or "from this place", and as local Aboriginal people used "Eora" to describe to the British where they came from, the term in turn became used to define the Aboriginal people themselves. The name Eora is proudly used today by the descendants of those very same people. The Sydney CBD is therefore often referred to as "Eora Country" and following the invasion of the Sydney region, whilst the Cadigal people were decimated, their descendants are surviving today, living in and around Sydney. In response and with respect to the original inhabitants of Sydney we dedicate this site and with respect seek to tell their story and reflect in their own way the significance and special spaces, place and Aboriginal people significant to Cadigal Wangal country
