Summary
Explores the contemporary nature of the "green"-"black" relationship both internationally and in the Australian context. Discusses the experiences of Greenpeace's successful alliances with Indigenous peoples in the Americas and the sub-Arctic; then analyses some features of the Australian context which may have contributed to high profile clashed between "greens" and "blacks". The specific case of the coal industry in Australia is analysed as an example of cooperation between Indigenous people and environmental organisations to prevent the cultural and environmental threat from new coalmining developments
