Summary
Jane Tost and her daughter Ada Rohu were Australian and Island curio dealers, opal merchants, manufacturing furriers, tanners, dyers and taxidermists who collected and sold taxidermy, artefacts and curios from their business in Martin Place, Sydney in the mid to late 19th century until the early 1920s; this brochure includes information about boomerangs and instructions for throwing one; it also shows a photograph of a brass souvenir ash tray of an Aboriginal man poised to throw, priced at 7/6; this item was part of a vast collection of items that were gathered (collected) across Australia; the photograph on the front cover comes from a collection of photographic plates and has been used to represent a typical pose by an Aboriginal man in traditional dress holding a boomerang; item also includes a copy of a linocut print on the back cover of South Sea Island origin
