This catalogue contains rare and historical artefacts mainly sourced from collections outside Australia. Of particular note are 3 rare broad shields and many narrow shields from south east Australia, the most remarkable of these is the Victorian parrying shield engraved by a Kurnai elder named Tulaba (also known as Billy Mcleod) who was one of the chief informants to Alfred Howitt for his text Kamilaroi and Kunai and The native tribes of South East Australia. Also included a group of rare north east Queensland artefacts collected by Robert Stewart prior to his return to Scotland in 1882, bark paintings from a private collection in America including 2 Yirawalas, early Western Desert artworks including 22 drawings and watercolours produced by Pintupi artists at Papunya, Rover Thomas's 'Ord River' and Emily Kngwarreye's 'Alhalkere'; John Mawurndjul; Eubena Nampitjin
