Summary
Oscar Munns; born at Surat, Queensland in 1906; at the age of eight years, he was moved to the Taroom settlement, where he remained until 1926 or 1927 - when the people were transferred from that settlement to Woorabinda; Mr Munns recalled the first house built at Woorabinda was the present [1977] Manager's house; on 5th December 1931, Mr Munns married Miss Lorna Cressbrook, who had also made the journey from Taroom; the marriage took place at the Church of England in Woorabinda; there were thirteen children as a result of this very happy marriage; for a great proportion of his life, Mr Munns worked as a stockman and cattle overseer on Woorabinda, but for brief periods, he was employed on cattle stations throughout the central west; his wife died in Rockhampton Hospital; Mr Munns was appointed a Justice of the Peace on the 23rd June, 1967; as a recognition of his many years of outstanding service to the Queensland Government, Mr Munns was awarded the Imperial Service Medal [in 1976]
