Elsta Foy; born Wupipi / Broome, 2 April 1937; delivered by Aunty Esther Mustafa, midwife; granddaughter of Severo Corpus, Manilaman, and Emma Ngobing, Yawuru woman; lived in Derby during World War II where her father, Edward [Roe], worked for the Main Roads Department; returned to family home in Chinatown after the war; as a child lived with her grandmother, Emma, and grandfather, Severo, helping them with shopping and other chores; sister of Margaret, Francesca 'Tanny', Tommy, Jack, Eddie, Louise, Vincent, John; friend of Sally Bin Demin; at 15 began training as a nurse; trained in Perth from 1952 to 1956; married Ron Foy at St Mary's Cathedral in Perth; after her husband's death, became lifelong companion to David Dureau from 1971; worked for the Health Department for 39 years; served as a Broome Shire Councillor from 1992 to 2013; re-elected to Council in October 2015
