Jack Louis David; diver; born Iama / Yam Island, 11 November 1927; son of Younga David and Anacleta Cadawas; paternal grandson of Dawitha and Kasabad; maternal grandson of Filipino, Agostin Cadawas, and Lavinia Ware; nephew of Uriah, Asai, Louie, Ned, Wilson, Dick, May, Salome; Josephine Satrick (nee Cadawas); brother of Elsie, Harriet, William; grew up and attended school on Yam Island; married Ladda George in 1950; father of Joseph Anthony, Josephine David-Petero and Philomena Elsie (Mina); worked on the pearling luggers; at one time went to Darwin; was a deep-water diver; associated with Sam Lewin, George Dewis, Crop Bowie, Wrench Mills, Frank Loban, Joseph (Jock) Sabatino, Thomas Sabatino, Hislo Sabatino; worked for Frances Sabatino; died of the bends diving for pearl shell in deep waters off Darnley Island on 27 July 1952; buried on Keriri / Hammond Island
