Joseph Maria Puertollano; born Djarindjini / Lombadina, Western Australia, 11 April 1911; son of Agnes Guilwill Bryan from the Jibirr Jabirr/Beagle Bay region and Thomas Puertollano, Filipino; brother of Philomena (born Beagle Bay, 25 March 1899), Mary (born Beagle Bay, 7 June 1901), Alphonsus (born Disaster Bay, 22 July 1903), Thomas Jr. (born Lombadina) and Teresa Maria (born Broome); married Lily Bell, daughter of David Bell, a station manager, and Alice Yolk, an Aborginal woman; Joseph Maria and Lily lived in a house in Frederick Street, Wupipi / Broome, where their daughters Ellen Puertollano (born 1934) and Evelyn Masuda (born 1935) were born; during World War II the family were evacuated to Beagle Bay Mission; Joseph died at the Leprosarium
