The new history of Western Australia covers the history of Western Australian chronologically to the 1970s: social experience with crime, the family, religion, education, buildings, literature and sport. Some of authors have covered the full span of the years and other have located their study within a particular period. In the first chapter: there are three sections describe some of the features of three Aboriginal cultures (South-West, the Western Desert and Kimberley) and discuss the origins of these cultures in the light of recent archaeological evidence. The final section draw attention to some of the reason why Aborigines found European culture unattractive in the light of their own cultural priorities
